A Tiny Lab is a place for children. This is their place to create, to explore, to wonder, to ask questions, to seek answers, to grow, to learn, to laugh, to cry, to experiment, to get messy, to sing, to shout, to problem solve, to take risks and to spend their days.
We opened our doors in June 2014. Our vision was for a small neighbourhood centre that gave special attention to food and the environment. We wanted to support families, embrace the city, and be active and engaged in our community.
We do our best to make choices that are healthy for our families and the environment. We limit the amount of plastic in the centre; toys and equipment are made of natural materials whenever possible. We are cloth diaper friendly, breastfeeding friendly and serve food that is local, seasonal and organic first. Careful consideration was given to the design of the environment. A rainwater collection system supplies water for all of our toilets. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow for an abundance of natural light to our classrooms. Heating is provided through in-floor radiant heating with cork flooring, a 100% sustainable and renewable natural resource and an ideal surface to cushion young children’s play.
Many of our teachers having been with us since (almost) day 1 and have have had a profound affect on the program we offer. We are impacted by each and every family.
Today, we've achieved more than expected, yet still have so far to go.
